Tesla Drops Lawsuit Against EVject as Their New EV Escape Connector is Introduced with Built-In Thermal Protection

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 1, 2024

American Fork, UT — EVject, the leader in electric vehicle escape innovation, has announced a voluntary recall of the EVject escape connectors v1.0 and v1.1. The recalled connectors were shipped between November 2023 and September 5, 2024. These initial versions relied on sensors in the vehicle and charger to provide active thermal monitoring. In the rare event that these systems are bypassed or unavailable, the previously designed EVject connector may heat beyond recommended safety limits. While no issues have been reported in everyday use, concerns were raised related to high-amp testing scenarios.

In response to these tests, EVject, Inc. developed the updated EVject (Supervised) v1.2 escape connector, featuring built-in thermal protection. This upgrade resolves any potential overheating risks and ensures compatibility for all vehicles with NACS (North American Charging Standard) charge ports. With these improvements, Tesla has officially dropped its lawsuit against EVject.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity we’ve had to develop solutions that raise the bar for safety and reliability in EV charging,” said Kreg Peeler, Founder of EVject. “The dismissal of the lawsuit was a result of our commitment to product excellence and quality partnerships with leading automakers and the EV community. We’re actively working to collaborate with all EV manufacturers to integrate the EVject safety technology into the evolving ecosystem.”

Next Steps for Customers

Customers who purchased v1.0 and v1.1 connectors can voluntarily return their units for the updated EVject (Supervised) v1.2. Emails have been sent to all customers who have provided email information. Once the v1.2 is ready to begin shipping, specific return instructions and postage will be provided to customers requesting the exchange.

“As we continue to refine and enhance our products, we’re eager to build strong relationships with automakers and charging companies who share our vision for safer, more efficient EV infrastructure,” added Kreg Peeler. “EV drivers should expect a remarkable user experience; this new escape connector is only the beginning of things to come.”

EVject’s innovative technology is designed to be aligned with various EV models and a variety of EV charging infrastructure. The company welcomes new opportunities to collaborate with automakers and EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) companies seeking advanced charging safety solutions. The EVject team is committed to providing new options and peace of mind to electric vehicle owners worldwide.
